Tinashe has released two new songs, “Pillow Fight” and “I’d Rather Be Alone,” as anticipation builds for her upcoming album, “Popstar.” The tracks arrive as the latest additions to the singer’s rollout for the project, which is scheduled for release Sept. 25.
“Pillow Fight” had been circulating among fans before its official arrival, with early discussion pointing to its nostalgic pop and R&B character. “I’d Rather Be Alone,” meanwhile, has emerged as a contrasting, more subdued entry in the album rollout, adding another dimension to a project that has so far moved between pop, R&B and more rhythmic territory.
The new material follows the previously-released tracks “Too Easy,” “Crash Out” and “Melatonin,” giving listeners a broader preview of the sound Tinashe is developing for “Popstar.” She has also been highlighting the visual side of the era, with behind-the-scenes footage from the videos for “Too Easy,” “Crash Out” and “Melatonin” released ahead of “Pillow Fight.”
